Goals

The USS Aries PHM-5 memorial is an ongoing project.  Our main goal for the Aries is to restore her to a flying status and tour coastal communities and events as an educational museum and historical monument to modern Naval technology.  Below is a list of milestones we need to meet in order to accomplish this goal.

Make operational onboard heating and air conditioning service.

Modernizing ships systems with updated computer & touch screen operating systems, allowing the ship to operate with a minimal crew.

Locate and install a G.E. LM2500 gas turbine.  This is a major undertaking but is necessary to allow the Aries to fly.  At present we are making inquiries with the Navy for a donation of a turbine from one of the many decommissioning FFG’s.

We are also looking for a more suitable coastal home for the Aries.  At present she is located in Brunswick, Missouri.

While the ships systems are fairly complete, there are several miscellaneous projects needed to be completed, such as but not limited to... fresh water system upgrades, misc. work needs to be completed in the engineering spaces, general clean up and yes, the always beloved paint chipping and repaint.

We would like to locate a suitable haul-out facility to donate haul-out services and repaint the hull and superstructure.
